Grant guidance

Grants and applications

A light-touch page can explain the process clearly without advertising the fund more aggressively than you want.

Approach

Careful wording for a first release

This page should explain that the trustees may consider applications for small grants where they fit the charity's purposes, while making clear that funds are limited and decisions are made by trustees at scheduled meetings.

Practical

Information applicants should be ready to provide

  • name and contact details of the person or organisation applying
  • the amount requested
  • what the funding would be used for
  • why the request benefits Buckfastleigh or the parish
  • whether other funding has been sought

Indicative meeting cycle

Based on the public notice already found, the trustees appear to consider applications at summer, autumn, and winter meetings. This can be refined once you have trustee-approved wording.

Summer Applications typically in by 1 June
Autumn Applications typically in by 1 October
Winter Applications typically in by 1 February
